Dyslexia & Dyscalculia Assessments and Specialist Support

A huge heartfelt welcome to the Dyslexia-Academy. My name is Katie Nelson, Founder of the Dyslexia-Academy, Specialist Teacher, SEND School Advisor and Mum to a fabulously incredibly talented daughter with dyslexia. The Dyslexia-Academy was founded as a result of many parents and adults attending our Dyslexia Centre for assessments; however, they also needed that higher level of dyslexia specialist support to be continued. We wanted this high level of specialist support to be available to everyone; therefore the Dyslexia-Academy online platform was born!
Together with the Dyslexia Centre North West Team, we make a range of dyslexia, dyscalculia assessments for children and adults accessible to all online no matter where you are based.
In addition to providing a range of Dyslexia and Dyscalculia specialist assessments, We make dyslexia specialist education, games and resources accessible for students from all over the world via our online Learning platform. For this higher level of educational support our doors are open to the students aged 6-11 and any levels of experience. Our mission is to develop key skills through our live lesson meet ups, the Dyslexia-Academy interactive learning arcade, access to all our Specialist Teacher made downloadable resources and workbooks in our online shop for yourself and your child's Teacher, Unique Teacher log in to our Teacher Portal for access for your child's Teacher to our Dyslexia-Awareness Courses and Literacy Programme.
Many of the team have personal instances of neuorodiversity in our own families; therefore, we are passionate about offering support to our parents out there too. Members can access the parent courses in a range of areas on supporting your child in addition to accessing our monthly parent 'meetups' and parent support sessions led by our IPSEA trained parents support specialist. These sessions are designed to help parents come together, chat with others who understand and you will also have the opportunity to ask our IPSEA trained SEND advisor any questions.
Ultimately- we have one overall aim. By offering this high level of specialist service we want to ensure that we develop your child's self-esteem so that they reach their true potential.

How can I choose my courses?
We offer a number of different learning paths, which you are invited to read and choose the one that better meets your needs. However if you need any advice or clarifications, we are at your disposal at any time.
What if the student and teacher’s personalities don’t work well together or the student is dissatisfied?
We have 16 teachers so if a problem occurs – which is extremely rare – we can switch you over to one of the other teachers. If you think you may get more out of lessons from a teacher with a different teaching style, we have the flexibility to change you to another instructor.
What can you offer that I cannot get at other online schools?
With us you will have the opportunity to learn from some of the most notable professionals in the field. We are intricately involved with education across the U.S. Our students regularly participate in local, state-wide, and national workshops and festivals.
